COMMANDER'S COLUMN

The last two months have been busy trying to increase our membership. We were offered a booth at the M.V.P.A.(Rolling Thunder) convention in early July, held at the Topeka Expo Center, during which we received new memberships and donations towards our rifle drawing in November. While there, I was able to procure a display table, the following weekend, at the Topeka Gun Show. Again we were able to increase our membership and obtain additional donations. I owe a debt of gratitude to the volunteers who assisted, Jack Valliere, Mike McGregor, Ginger Reddick and Wayne Icenogle. Let’s keep the momentum going and all strive to add a new member.

I have been more than pleased with the great food being prepared in our restaurant and have received many favorable comments from members and guests. Come join us and see for yourselves, you won’t be disappointed.

More and more groups and civic organizations are using our post to hold meetings and in turn, interest in Legion and Auxiliary membership has continued to grow with our exposure to the community.

We are planning a community Garage Sale in October and invite members to contribute reusable donations to the Post or rent a table for a small donation. As the date gets closer, more information will be available.

Please be sure to check our website for up-to-date Post and calendar . www.capitolpost1.org)

Our Post continues to serve our community by contributing our time, effort and money to worthy local causes, especially those that help our fellow veterans, our youth and our local  Kansas Guard  and Reserve military. If you are able to volunteer your time or talent, either as an officer of the Post or as a consultant, you will be rewarded with the knowledge that you are contributing and making a difference.

God Bless America and our Veterans
